Sarah McKeown

 Beacon & Bents

I am delighted to be the Green Party Councillor for Beacon and Bents. I have been working with our tireless Green councillors David and Sue on issues important to you, the residents, and am keen to be able to represent you in the local council and help to triple the action for you.

I know that many residents have felt taken for granted or sidelined by other parties in South Shields.  I will always put residents at the heart of everything we do. Times are tough right now for many families and I want to support them through focused priorities and effective decision making. I will always fight for a healthy, clean and productive local environment for a proud and deserving community.

I have been a member of the Green Party for over 10 years because I am passionate about our environment as well as tackling the inequalities that are so evident all around us – all too often in the North East. Inequality is often driven by the degradation of the natural environment, whether that be on a local, national or global level.

I would like to see a clean and healthy local environment in Beacon and Bents. I would work to ensure equality of opportunity, access to services, facilities and education to name just a few.

I’ve been supporting the amazing green councillors of Beacon and Bents who work tirelessly to identify and deal with the issues that matter most to local residents. I have been really enjoying chatting to people on the doorstep and working with local community groups at events such as litter picks and beach cleans.

This is a strong and proud community which I hope to be able to represent.

I am a teacher, a mam to three lovely children and a resident of South Tyneside who would love to help things to change for the better!’
